Shiba Cafe for My Dawgs
If you are an animal lover like yours truly and love coffee/tea like yours truly and sipping coffee while playing with cute dogs sounds like your perfect day then look no further this post is FOR YOU. If the above does not sound like applies to you then I think you should still scope this post and several other animal cafe posts I have waiting in the wings, because you just might change your mind ;)
Mameshiba Cafe is exactly what it sounds like: a cafe with Shiba Inus, a beloved, popular, and ridiculously cuuuute Japanese dog breed. If you’ve ever seen the movie Hatchi (based on a true story and in the American remake with Richard Gere, the dog used is technically an Akita but still!) then you probably cried because the story of the fierce love a dog had for its master will get your eyes leaking! There is a statue in Harajuku that memorializes the famous dog and I wanted to go to it but we either didn’t have time or the one time we did go looking for it in the rain, Google Maps got us lost and sadly we never found it. So if you go to Harajuku you gotta go for me!
Tucked on the bustling and VERY pink Takeshita Street in Harajuku is the cafe. I knew what to look for because I had seen a guy’s vlog on this place on Youtube, otherwise might have walked right by it. And yes, guy, there were actually a lot of guys in the cafe. Dudes love dogs too haha.
They opened at 11 am and book up fast. We got there a little after noon and our return ticket wasn’t until after 1pm. It was only about $14 for the two of us for a 30 min session.
We walked around a little bit but didn’t want to wander too far and miss our appointment. We saw some benches, a rare sighting, and took advantage and just rested for a bit.
It was on the third floor of this building that overlooked the busy street below.
These were mini Shibas and the bandanas they were all wearing had me DED. It was pretty warm in there and all the constant playing with people had many of them PTFO.
This guy ran over to the TV and all of a sudden…
…they were all running over to the TV. Haha so cuuuuute.
The elusive mini white shiba <3
That cannot be comfortable haha
As soon as who I’m guessing was the owner of the cafe came in the pups were alllll over her it was so cute and funny.
A short and sweet post this time. I think their cute faces did more than I could with words to tell you that you should definitely go pay them a visit if you’re ever in Tokyo. They really do make you smile and lift your spirits even if you were already happy you’ll walk out even that much happier :) Thanks for reading. Next animal cafe post comin’ soon!
